Product details
The R1 ECU Carrier brings digital input sensing, load switching, communications, and power conversion together around an Arduino Portenta H7. Its design provides 28 external digital I/O channels: eight digital inputs, eight dedicated high-side outputs, and twelve programmable channels with high-side switching and divider-based digital state readback. Ethernet is routed to an RJ45 connector, USB D+/D− and VBUS to a USB-C connector, and CAN and RS-485/RS-232 circuitry to a shared communications header. A separate header provides SWD and reset connections. The design uses two 80-position Hirose DF40HC(3.5) connectors for the Portenta module and an external DC terminal input feeding onboard conversion circuitry. The integrated interfaces and switching circuitry make this a candidate for machine control, automation, and embedded equipment. The carrier has been fabricated, tested, and deployed. It is available to order, with pricing and lead time by inquiry. Choose the carrier + Portenta H7 package, selected by default, or the carrier board only for use with your own module. The default package includes the standard Arduino Portenta H7 (ABX00042), the module variant used in the tested and deployed hardware. The Portenta H7 is included only with the carrier + module package. The illustrated black finishes and headerless module are visualization choices; physical side-header configuration and final finishes remain to be confirmed. Designed by R1 Systems, with selected schematic circuits adapted from Arduino Portenta Machine Control (AKX00032 V1.1). Hardware design files are available under CC BY-SA 4.0, with upstream attribution and third-party notices included in the source archive. Downloads include editable Altium files, the schematic PDF, BOM, fabrication files and change history. Firmware is not included in the hardware source archive.
